This is my Sassy. My Mare. She was abit of a rescue. I was looking for a riding/trail horse and someone online told me about her. The teenage girl that had her wanted $2000. for her. She's well broke, well mannered, etc. but I told the woman to tell the girl no way am I paying that. I only had $1000. from selling my gelding, that turned into a big bully. Lol..
Anyway got the price reduced, and when I drove 2 hours in one of the worse snowstorms ever, found her to be half straved, skin & bones, no spark in her eye. I about cryed when this young girl slapped a heavy saddle on her poor old back. Anyway, that's been 2 years last month and I've put nearly 300 pounds on her.
She was living in the middle of winter in a cold wet open pen. NOW she's closed up at night in a heavily bedded sawdust pen, lots of fresh water, hay, and her 2 goats in a pen next to her to talk to. They wander the little pasture all day, and she's a Happy girl, as am I. We do lots of trail rides and parades, and that big old saddle is now a 19 pound synthetic one. Can you tell, she's my girl? Lol..
